Hey Everybody!
It is (I think) Sunday night. I was supposed to be back in the US yesterday... before the aroma of my luggage was scary. I am sitting in Santiago, Chile and my luggage has turned scary.
Easter Island is a lovely place and I recommend it to anyone who loves nice, warm weather; a little mystery; simple accommodations; and, as it turns out, has a very flexible schedule!
Weather issues (the official airline answer) delayed me for two days. I finally left the island around 10:30 or so last night. Today's flight from the island was also cancelled....so I guess I lucked out.
Rebooking my connections proved fairly easy after the first cancellation thanks to email & my AAA agent who booked the flights for me. Rebooking the second time was a big challenge, especially in Santiago where American Airlines staff don't even show up for work until Noon on Sunday (at earliest)! How is this logical in a very busy international airport?!?!
Anyway....it appears that I might just see my first North American town again soon. Even US Customs in the dark of night will be progress! I do not know when I will make it back to MT since that segment had to be cancelled and I don't dare try to repurchase until I can see the Rocky Mountains :-).
I promise (really) to start trip posts soon....
